As we have discussed elsewhere on this blog, a common mantra in the UK (and possibly other countries) is that visiting Iceland is a burden on the wallet. Worldly Scandifriend’s recent Icelandic trip has provided ample evidence that the opposite is the case, but congratulations to Royal Mail for ramming the point home. It will now cost 60 British pence to send a first-class letter up to 100g. It’s ISK110 (55 British pence) for letters up to 100g in Iceland. Yes – there are often occasions when Iceland isn’t cheap. But those of us in Blighty obsessed with the cost of living should not start throwing volcanic rocks in glass houses. We’ll be revisiting this theme in earnest.
